First Snow
December 23rd, 2007
The snow kept coming down yesterday, forming big drifts throughout the yard. By the time it stopped knowing it was too late for Ester to go out and play, but Daddy brought her a bowl of snow so she could check it out. Before sunset, Chris built a little snow hut in the back yard for Ester to explore today.
This morning we took Ester out to play in the snow for the very first time (see video). She really seemed to enjoy slipping and sliding through the back yard. It’s always awesome to see her experience new things. The next few days will be full of lots of “firsts” for Ester and us as a family. And it looks like Ester and Justice’s first Christmas will be a white one.
Snow (for real this time)
December 15th, 2007
There is really snow on the ground and falling from the sky outside our house today. Ester and Daddy just got back from a trip to the food co-op, where they picked up some monthly rations. Ester isn’t sure what to think of snow just yet. Unfortunately, it’s a bit too cold to go out and roll around in it. Shame.
Yesterday, Chris connected with some great people at Trees for Life. This Wichita-based organization has been working for years to help people throughout the world, including Ethiopia. It was really cool to connect with such a great group of people right here in Wichita. Check out their website to see their work on a super-nutritional tree called Moringa.
Last evening, we went to one of Chris’ favorite restaurants, Granite City, for some good food and drink. Justice actually was awake for part of the meal, and Ester won accolades for cuteness as usual. Today, we’re laying low, trying to stay warm, and singing, “Let it Snow, let it snow, let it snow.” (ok, maybe humming)
